GE Frame 6B Machine High Spread on Both Liquid and Gas Fuel

04/03/2010 6:13 PM

Recently our Frame6B gas turbine in boroscopic inspection we found first stage turbine nozzle tip damaged & fuel nozzle crack. the reason is one of the combuster liner lock plate broke and that piece entered the turbine. later we replaced the first stage nozzles, fuel nozzles and throughly inspected the other stages too. After the installation when we started the gas turbine we are facing high spread only on base load in both fuels, we checked bleed valves , thermocouple tips, sealing air but we have not found any defect in any of them. the thermocouples which are low and high are adjacent thermocouples i.e TTXD1_3 and 4 second highest is TTXD1_16 which always almost equal to first highest.

why spread going high only at baseload or near base load only?

what could be the reason of the adjacent thermocouples showing such a high variation?

Any sort of ideas are very valuable for us... will be waiting for ur valuable ideas

TY

Go to the link below and ask the GE nerds and they will answer your questions free.

Don't go there without all the facts or they will think you are wasting their time, they will want alot more info than what you have stated here.

Good Luck!

That's here

Why in the name of @% one has to post the same question on forums, where the correct advice is already on?

CSA has most likely hit the nail on head on the last post , and as he said, OP might not be willing to accept the facts.

In fact not only Fr6B but Fr5 too, the transition piece assembly is a bit complicated. Upto last one is a bit OK, but then you insert the last one between two existing, and it foes everywhere except the correct slot. You tighten when you think it is located in the seal slot, whereas it was offset, and you have bend the strips. But then you gain experience after a few mishaps.

You may try posting the question on the CTOTF forum. It a free forum of gas turbine operators/users. Chances are, someone else with a Frame 6B has had the same problem. The forum has been very useful for my company. http://www.ctotf.org/
