Dear Sir,
It is a design process... involving various parameters.... you should be aware of all of them.
LUX = QUANTITY OF LIGHT AVAILABLE PER SQ MTR.
ASSUMPTION 1 - CONSIDER UNIFORM LIGHTING ALL OVER THE AVAILABLE SPACE.
Then, Simple lux calculation would be, Lux available at any given point
= Lumens per Lamp * no. of lamps * utilization factor
--------------------------------------------------
Area of Space cosidered for uniform lighting
One practical example
No. of light fixtures - 16.
type of fixture - 2 * 250W MHL
Height of Fixture - 6 Mtr.
Area of Hall - 15 mtr. * 45 mtr. = 675 sq mtr.
250 W MHL lamp data - lumens out put put per lamp = 14500
LUX = 14500 * 2 *16* 0.55 / 675 = 378 lux. average all over the area considered.
Read "Phillip Lighting Manual" or another lighting manual, please.
