Check for ground connection faults.

Other things to do as well is to check the fuses.

However, the first thing that comes to mind is a faulty ground or power connection. Usually, there is a connector that plugs into the back of the dash. Also look and trace wires and make sure they are not broken or grounding is not loose.

My, you are optimistic about the OP's ability.

His gages are not communicating. And they are electronic. That's why he posted in Communications & Electronics?

I'll go sit on the naughty step now.

I have the same thing in my mercedes E300. Unfortunate there the gauges are connected with a flexible printed circuit and this leads to bad contact all the time. I have fixed it a few times already but the defect keeps coming back after some time. Just wanted to share my experience.

I have a 1992 Honda Civic and the same thing happened, the speedo, gas, temp, rmp gauges stopped working completely... also the right and left turn signals stopped working. Oddly enough the flashers work. This is very strange and no mechanic shop around seems to know what to do but charge out the ying yang for no solution to this problem.
