Dear Chella,

The word 'Radiant' is the adjective of 'Radiation' i.e. light. The best example is the heat radiated (carried in the form of rays of light) to earth from Sun in the form of 'Sun Light'. The Radiant heat can be avoided by absorption as well as by reflection. A black umbrella absorbs the heat and gets heated up quickly whereas a light colored umbrella reflects most of the heat away and takes longer time for heating up.

So, 'Absorbers' or 'Reflectors' can be used on different situations. 'Heat insulation' is different and is used to 'conserve' the heat.

Regards.

Dear Chella,

If you are using some sort of electric or fuel fired radient tubes, you can control the heating by controlling the current or fuel flow.

Regards.
