This problem has been presented here more than any other auto problem. Basically test for power to the fuel pump as close to the in tank pump as you can. You should get power for 1-2 seconds when the key is turned to on.

Do a search on here for Cavalier. Good luck.

Check your fuses and relays to make sure they are not blown and working properly. Check for battery voltage at the pump and relay. If you have battery voltage at the pump and it does not turn on, check the ground. If the ground is good then try replacing the pump. If no voltage is at the pump but is at the relay, you have an open in the circuit between the relay and the pump. If it still does not work, check the signal going to the relay. If it still is not working, get a manual from your local parts store and check out the wiring diagram. Check any spots that you have not checked already while follow it. Make sure all connectors are connected and secure, make sure there are no exposed wires, etc. If you are able to, hot wire the pump to the battery to see if it comes on at all before poking and probing around. Hope this helps Alex

when did it start, by that i mean when did the problem start, was it ok before the problem?

did you hit any pot holes before the problem reason i ask it may be an inertia switch has tripped, this detect what it thinks is an impact and shuts the fuel off.

chack all the chassis to engine earth cables, also it may be corrosion inside the pluges on the various connections, unplug and spray inside the plugs with WD49 and then re plug, may i suggest you do each plug in turn to establish for future refrence which one is the cause.

Unplug remove spray all relays, it may help to test them if you know how,

on base there should be at least 4 terminals two will be the operating coil and two the contacts the contacts should read 0 zero ohms is there is the slightest reading on the contacts the contacts are burnt and will present a high resistance to passage of electrics

please report back re when the problem started

yhanks
