Potential Divder

04/13/2010 3:27 AM

Thanks to every one who reply me,

Once again My friends Me to use this 12VDC Relay in PCB for making an Auto changeover where I have to considre the size and vacant place at PCB, While You people say to use 220VAC relay which is big one as compare to 12VDC.

Pricewise the 12VDC relay is available in 15 Rupee, while 220VAC relay is for 150, 175 Rupee.

There is one side genrator and far side Line ACV which are to switch over in case of once failour.

As concerned Hazardous using 220VAC is more dangrous particularly while changing over , Fabrication and repairing point of view.

Best Regards,

There are plenty of small cheap 220v ac pcb mounted relays.
I feel you are guilty of muddled thinking.
By trying to use the wrong relay you will just create another set of problems with size, heat dissipation etc.
As concerned Hazardous using 220VAC is more dangrous particularly while changing over , Fabrication and repairing point of view....
More wooly thinking..you will still have 220v present, especially on one end of the big hot resistor which will probably be the component which fails.
Trust us, we've all made these 'beginers mistakes' before, or just do whatever you want, but please don't argue to try to prove us wrong or to persuade us that an awful idea is a good one.

Repeating the question won't change the answer...
