If you think these cars are so bad, you might want to buy the Renault Fuego I have. It is not American made. Has classic French engineering, sporty looks and gets worse gas mileage than all of the above $%!t boxes.

How did CR rate those Toyotas that had throttle problems?

Believe half of what you read, and none of what you hear.

for as long as i can remember, CR has seemed to slam US made cars. granted, a 1980's K-car or Chevy Vega had it's share of issues. Japan Inc did a nice job of building a solid reliable car back then, but I would put a recent domestic vehicle up against anything out there.

I just turned 194000 miles on my '02 GMC pickup. Usually loaded to 10,000 lbs. or hauling a trailer.... finally needed Brakes at 160,000! miles. It has never left me stranded (well... only when i ran out of gas!... )

I hear a few people complaining about their US cars, but many of the issues with the cars are self inflicted... or caused by those crooks at the quickie-lube places "jeez! my intake system needs to be flushed again!!! what a piece of crap car!"
