Pressure Safety Valve

04/15/2010 4:34 AM

In PSV, there are pop up pressure and reset pressure. Please tell me, what that really means and what role does it play with the set point value .

The PSV "pops" at the CST (Cold Set Pressure) on the test stand. It will then reset at a predetermined pressure that is lower than this "pop" set pressure. The reset pressure does not affect the set pressure as it is adjusted by setting of the notch rings which govern the secondary lift area that governs at what pressure the valve will close again after having lifted.

what does PSV stand for ? passenger service vehicles ?

if so there are unloader valves on the compressors that blow of when a set pressure is reached, reason its cheaper to dump the excess air pressure than to have a compressor that stops compressing when the pressure is reached
