Self heating coffee cups

07/11/2005 4:20 PM

OnTech LLC has a new product up it's sleeve - cups that can heat and keep warm beverages for up to an hour. I looked up the way it works. They mix calcium oxide and water to produce the endothermic reaction. Never heard of calcium oxide? Maybe you have heard of it's more common name: quicklime.

Quicklime

One of the grimmer uses for quicklime has been to hasten the decomposition of corpses. I'll take my coffee cold, thank you.
