05/03/2010 4:32 AM

hi,

can anybody help me in calculating the Allowable Stress Range ?

Q. is

For piping system subjected to 60000 thermal cycles over it's life span. calculate the allowable stress range with the following conditions ?

1) allowable stress in cold condition = 1300 Kg/cm2

2) allowable stress in hot condition = 1050 Kg/cm2

3) Longitudinal stress in sustained condition = 300 Kg/cm2

please help me..please give me ans. its fine if only one condition is solved.

thanks in advance.

It is home work, so you should at least try to get a solution and if it is wrong we shall help you to find the errors but 1st start to think how to solve your problem

The problem is easy and very simple, and you can solve it by yourself if you read the attached pages from ASME B31.1, Para. 102.3 Allowable Stress Values and Other Stress Limits for Piping Components: ASME_B31.1-_Para 102.3.

Dear sir,

plz don't mind..

i read the ASME B31.1, Para. 102.3 for allowable stress range calculation, then i got the formula for calculation, but sir.. my stress analysis subject is very wick..

so please tell me..

SA p f (1.25Sc + 0.25Sh) in this formula ..when only sc value is known then how i can calculate the SH.

and what value to be taken for f ?

thanksss a lot for helping.
