What is the check point while taking branch connection in welding

Did you mean inspection check points? Basically when we are taking a branch connection in a run pipe, we are weakening it by making a puncture. So the size of the opening, the size of the reinforcing pad if any, the set-up including angle if any, root weld liquid penetrant/ MP test, the final weld examination and size of weld would be check points as I can see.
