You are right.IP stands for ingress protection.First numeral for dust and second stands for what.The size of particles for first numeral and water ingress are detailed in standards for each numeral.First numeral test is a type test where in test chamber talcum powder or similar material is sparayed to check the entry of dust in to the machine enclosure and 2nd numeral is normally treated as a routine test and done in factory using hose of correct size and pressure to spray water.
