How to Query GPS?

05/13/2010 9:57 AM

Hi. Small question here. I don't want a constant stream of GPS data on my serial port, I just want to query it as and when I want it. By reading the spec I could make out it is possible but could not understand exactly how to do it. Appreciate some help. Thanks.

You just poll the GPS engine with the appropriate string (command/message). The manual should provide you with the list of commands.

Usually though its no problem to have the GPS engine constantly chatting to the serial port unless your sharing that port with something else.
