Expansion in Aluminium Cylinder Due to Temp

If there is an aluminium cylinder whose length is 2000mm and its internal dia is 300mm and external 600mm and the temperature rise of cylinder is 30C(degree centigrade). how can we find its increase in length and dia ???????

Look up the thermal expansion rate for your material and do the math. That's all the help you'll get here. We don't do homework.

I certainly agree with lynlynch here. There is one added point though, different aluminum alloys have slightly different thermal expansion coefficients. So if this is a scholastic homework problem, then be sure to use the number in your textbook. Your teacher may not accept a numeric answer based on any other value. If instead this is an industrial homework problem, contact the manufacturer of this very thick walled pipe about the alloy used and/or the thermal coefficient of it.

I'll give you a few more hints, but not the calcs.

The length will be in direct correlation to the thermal expansion, while the diameter will have some very specific assumptions needed.

Some cylinders (pipes) as they expand retain their ID, some retain their OD and others will expand about the nominal centre of the wall thickness. YOU will need to determine which is applicable in this case.

Remember that the wall thickness (600-300)/2mm will also need to change by the same expansion rate and I find it very difficult to imagine the ID of that tube getting smaller, or even remaining constant.
