Bently Nevada Temperature Issue

05/18/2010 4:14 AM

Hi, we have the 3500 Bently Nevada Software at our site. I have a small doubt regarding on of the temperatures. At the moment all the temperatures at a given slot are working except one. Eg In slot 8 all the temperatures are giving me ambient readings except channels 1 and 2, after replacing them to another channel i realised tht there was a problem with the channel. One futher checking the voltage I measured 0.191 volt in Terminals B and C (which should be 4) and 15 volt between C and D (which should be 10).

Wht I wanted to know is whether its possible to repair the 2 channels (also suggest how) which are not giving me any readings or I need to change the whole Slot. Also could u tell me whts the significance/theory of the voltages 4 and 10 are at the respective terminals.

I have two suggestions.

First, you could send the failing hardware unit back to the manufacturer for repair. This might be a waste of funds if it's found to be a fault in how the software is programmed. If swapping modules into the same slot causes that slot to still fail then either the software settings or there's something wrong with the backplane and/or the connector at that slot location. This will again require sending the failing hardware back for reworking.

Second, hire somebody that knows this system to maintain this system. There are many people waiting for an opportunity to prove their value today. This could be an outside service contract of a company that only works on this product. While this should provide a knowledgeable person for you to fix this problem, the drawback is that you will have no control over who works on your system or how available they must be. You could hire your own employee to maintain this system.
