This is pretty cool. Fujitsu has developed a flexible paper thin color display. It offers high resolution while using very little power so it could have many applications as a mobile personal information device or in advertising. Imagine informational menus at your favorite restaurants, assembly instructions that actually tell you what you need to do, dynamic textbooks, etc. Hopefully it won't be just another invasive marketing tool (i.e., posted up in mass transit forcing us to listen to adverts over and over again).
"Electronic paper" is being showcased at the Fujitsu Forum 2005, held July 14 and 15 at Tokyo International Forum. Fujitsu is conducting test marketing and practical-use testing, targeting commercialization within fiscal 2006 (April 2006 to March 2007).
