Best Lubricant for Deep Drawing Press in India

06/05/2010 6:11 AM

I need to know , what's the most suitable lubricant for deep drawing press machine that easily available in India.? The sheet material using is SS-304L ( thick: 0.63mm). The final product is the Inner tanks of Geysers. We are need the dipping solution in which the sheets are dipped and drawn then. Add the necessary properties of the same lubricant too.

You need a high film strength lube for this material. Most formulas in use in shops I have visited here in US were primarily chlorinated parrafins and a little bit of fats.

I don't know what s available in india, but this link gives a good general tutorial on the subject.

You did not ask for my advice on passivation and contamination, but I will tell you from experience that any iron contamination from having run other materials, scale, or debris in your presses can initiate rust on your stainless parts. The discussion of passivation here is well worth your time.

Great to read your very good response, especially about the importance of passionating to avoid contamination damage on stainless steel

Have done a lot of stainless steel drawing and I use only a Fuchs product ... thick as honey and you need to develop a method of getting it off after ... this drawing oil is that good that we have done short runs with mild steel draw dies not hardened. If you drop me a PM I look up the product name. Batt
