New or Improved Things

02/21/2007 12:41 PM

I'm interested in the thoughts of others concerning what we need today in our daily lives or something at work that would make our lives better. Things like better transportation, a better tool, toy, or anything for that matter that requires someone to make it or work on it. If it's a great idea, you must promise to keep it here in the USA,,,,,lol,,,,what I'm trying to do is find something to make here in our machine shop to stop from having to lay-off people in our slow times. Thanks for any suggestions or ideas

Take no. 1; recreational VTOL(vertical take-off Landing craft). It's quite expensive for the main stream market, and most folks aren't concered about cost when it comes to weeknd like activities. VTOL craft certainly has huge potential as an alternative transportation mode of the future. There are plenty of made-in-US stuffs required for this project(actually some of these can only be found in the US!-for now anyway.)

More details here

drop me a mail if you like.

I could use a cat vac. Not one that sucks up the annoying critters, but one that would effectively remove loose fur and dander on them quickly. And if it could be used to remove pet fur from your clothes, instead of those sticky rollers that can only do about one pant leg per sheet. The problem is that most cats are terrified of vacuum cleaners. So one would have to be designed that did not frighten them -- it would have to have good suction but be quiet.

One for dogs would also be useful. Dogs don't particularly like vacuum cleaners either.

They have developed hand held power heads that are attached to a standard shop vacuum for grooming horses. Horses can be quickly trained to tolerate the noise of a vacuum.

I need something making but its an opto-electronic product, not a mechanical gizzmo. Amazing! I cant find anyone in the UK interested in making anything including a profit its all gone to China I think along with any Know-how, we are left with only seat-polishers by the look of it.

"gone to China I think along with any know-how, we are left with only seat-polishers" how true this is. I agree 100% and find it very sad that what work I have these days is just enough to keep my lights on.
