What is the best way to measure earth resistance of a connected pit?

By using an Earth Tester or an Earth Meggar. But, measuring so will NOT give you the resistance of the earth pit but of the total earth grid, including the resistance of all parallel connected earth pits.

If you want to measure the individual resistnace of an earth pit, best and perhaps the only way is to isolate it temporarily from the grid & measure. Test Links are normally provided in the connection sto the earth pits for the purpose of isolating the earth pits from the grid for testing & mesurement.

It is not possible to isolate the earth strips from the system. i fear that it might break the continuity of the neutral and body earth paths

There is no way to measure the earth resistance of a connected pit.

hi

There are instruments available for on line measurement of earth pit

resistance. it is becoming common to substations and grids.Its only that i am not sure about the accuracy of the measurement. If you want i can send you the model no. of the instrument.

IS THERE ANY ON LINE EARTH PITS RESISTANCE TESTING METERS AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET. HOW TO CHECK THE EARTH PIT RESISTANCE OF THE EARTH PIT WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE EARTH PIT CONNECTIONS.
