Hi Signode,

Welcome to CR4! We use a custom right-click menu on our site. You can insert a hyperlink by doing the following:

  1. Highlight the text you want to turn into a hyperlink
  2. Click the insert/edit hyperlink button from the toolbar above the text box (available in the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers)
  3. Enter the URL
  4. Click the submit button

Here's a graphic that illustrates what I explained above - the red circle shows the button I was talking about:

You can bypass the custom right-click menu:

  • Right click in the reply box
  • Click Bypass "Custom" Menu...
  • Click Okay

If this doesn't solve your problem please let us know!

I believe that SavvyExacta answered your post to a tee. It seems to me that you are forgetting the step where you highlight the text where you want to insert a link. In order to use the "insert hyperlink" button, you need to have text to use as a base for the link.

You can also create a link by copy and pasting the url in the text field, then highlighting the url and clicking the "Insert Hyperlink" button. Click Submit and you have yourself a working link. Example 1 shows the link just being copy and pasted in. Example 2 shows what it should look like when you insert the link.

Example:

1. http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/55984/Insert-Hyperlink-Option-Disappears

2. http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/55984/Insert-Hyperlink-Option-Disappears
