Help Identify Pipe Fitting "thingy"

02/22/2007 6:51 AM

I am looking for a cast stainless pipe reducer fitting for special use. We use it as a port to accept make-up water from a chemical proportioning pump into an open tank. It allows for anti-splash and reduction of foaming. We made them custom the last time. Since then someone showed me a cast version but I can not remember where or what it was called. It may be a fire protection fitiing or perhaps used in commercial domestic water piping installations as an air break.

yes it looks simple and standard but is first of its kind in world. you can grip the pipe from 10 mm to 30 mm and no adjustment are needed. It is self locking at all sizes. It automatically sizes the pipes. Has amazing strength too.

You have achieved heretofore previously unseen depths of subtle sarcasm for this forum. Congratulations. Perhaps you could enlighten us on the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Looks to me to be a air gap for a reduced pressure backflow preventer. The one in this link looks kind of cheap. i've seen them of cast bronze and other materials.

Got to be American with a company like Watts. Air gap was a good guess, the USAF are still swearing they did not intercept any such thing over Roswell though.

That's European.
