SAW Contact Tip - Material

The contact tip must be

a good conductor of electricity,

have good mechanical strength and hardness to with stand heat,

minimum tendency to combine with filler metal.

There are may varieties and good one among them are:

1. Copper 99.2% (+) Chromium 0.80% - has high mechanical properties but low thermal and electrical conductivities than Cu (+) Cd alloy.

2. Copper 99% (+) Cadmium 1% - high strength and harness coupled with good electrical and thermal conductivities.

3. Copper 97.5% (+) Beryllium 0.5% (+) Nickel 1% (+) Cobalt 1% -

4. Special alloys made of copper (+) Zirconium and copper (+) cadmium (+) Zirconium.

Generally, type 1 and 3 are commonly available.
