	RS232 stands for "Random Selection of 232 possibilities" the interface therefore depends on the instrument, requirements, hardware, operating system, interface card etc. my personal choice is to use a combination of Bios functions , accessing the ports directly. This system was developed long ago and with minor improvements dictated by the instrument and interface card it is still operating. Please post more detail.
