Greeting all,

Can any body give me some information regarding to saturation consideration difference in salient pole machines and iron rotor turbogenerators.

Kindly be more specific in your query. What aspect of design consideration you would like to know. Salient pole generators are slow speed generators and therefore have more number of poles as compared to non-salient (also known as cylindrical pole) Turbo Generators which are high speed machines having mostly 2 poles ( for nuclear application some times 4 pole generators are also used). Because of higher speed, the diameters of Turbo Generator rotor is restricted and therefore have limited cross section area for flux path. But this restriction is overcome by increasing the length.

Saturation depends on the flux requirement which in turn depends on number of stator slots, voltage generated, parallel paths, and many other factors.

I may be in a position to reply your question with specific queries.
