Design of a Plate Rolling Machine (Three Roller Type)

Hi,

We are holding small fabrication unit in Chenai, we don't afford to buy ready made machine. So we want to fabricated the same in our own (three roll machine).

Capacity: 2500 mm plate width * Max. 16 mm thickness, material to be bend MS.

If some one has design sketch / data regarding the same.

Look at a thread beginning of february 2010 (Hydraulic cylinder design). Near to you a guy wants to build a huge bending machine he can help you he has experience and a small one is easier than a big one.

MY DEAR FRIEND,

I M FROM MAINTENANCE DEPT, NOT FROM DESIGN BUT I HAVE REPAIRED ROLLER BENDING MACHINE, I CAN GIVE U OVERALL IDEA WHICH MAY HELP YOU OR NOT? IN THREE ROLLER BENDING MACHINE TWO ARE ROTATING IN SAME DIRECTION AND ONE IS IDLE. YOU REQUIRE A REDUCTION GEAR BOX WHICH GIVES 3 TO 4 RPM. CONNECH TO MAIN ROLLER AND TO ROTATE OTHER ROLLER IN SAME DIRECTION U REQUIRE GEAR TRAIN. THE IDLE ROLLER WHICH CAN UP AND DOWN THAT IS MAKING MORE OR LESS GAP BETWEEN THE ROLLER, MOVES UP AND DOWN BY THE HELP OF SQUARE SCREW FITTED IN THE FRAME OF MACHINE

yes i can but it is outer dimension of machine, that is how much space a machine can occupy? outer dimensions are 12' width x 3.5' height x 2.5' length. other dimensions i donot know.

Actually, iam looking for the following.

1) What will be the dia of top and bottom rollers

2) What is the distance between bottom two rollers.

Please suggest if any reference books / site also.

MY DEAR FRIEND.

NO NEED TO THANKS, ITS JUST SHARING OF KNOWLEDGE, WELL U ASKED ME THE DIAM OF ROLLER? THAT IS 195 MM. ALL THREE, AND THE GAP BETWEEN TWO MAIN ROLLER IS 15 MM. THIS MOTOR CAN BE RUN IN BOTH DIRECTION THAT IS CLOCK WISE AND ANTI CLOCK WISE.SO WHEN U R GOING TO BEND THE PLATE U HAVE TO FORWARD AND REVERSE THE ROLLER AND SIMENTANEOUSLY U HAVE TO ADJUST THE THIRD ROLLER GAP MANUALLY SO GRADUALLY REQUIRED RADIUS U WILL GET.

hello,

how to calculate the dia of the rollers by using the given values ,if the sheet to be rolled is 1600 mm width ,6mm in thickness and 2metres in dia.?

should the top roller be bigger in dia than the bottom roller as more force is exerted on it?

A couple of years ago I answered an Indian request about this kind of machine there is a full design procedure in one thread you only have to find it since I do not know any more its title.

As for the diameters you should consider the tolerances you want to achieve in linearity of bend plate you should also consider the loads which are depending on the bending radius. The moment for the motor depends mainly on bearing friction and of yield limit of used material.

It seems that in India no one buys such machines you are the 3rd to ask for support in design.

GOOD AFTERNOON

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MUCH TORQUE REQUIRE TO ROLL PLATE 16MM BY 2000MM,WHEN WE USE 7.5KW ELECTRIC MOTOR AND 30:1 REDUCTION GEAR BOX,
