Cable Voltage Designation

07/14/2010 12:04 AM

Dear all,

If a cable is designated as 3.8/6.6(7.2)kV power cable, you can use this cable up to 7.2kV between conductors. However, I do not know the meaning of 6.6. Can anybody explain this for me?

Regards

Could it have something to do with ΥΔ ? Seems 3.8*√3 ≈ 6.6 kV .. i don't know if this has any bearing.

Uo/U (Um) : 3.8/6.6 (7.2)

Uo - Rated Phase to Ground voltage

U - Rated Phase to Phase voltage

Um - Highest permisible voltage of the grid
