While reading about Process Intensification, I read about a "5L Flask Syndrome", has anybody heard of this?

Old chemical or process engineers who were raised on a diet of large batch processing who find it difficult to come to grips with the mechanical and process changes required to achieve meaningful Process Intensification are said to suffer from "5 liter flask syndrome".
