Wire Wound Resistor Design

i want to know , how are the basic parameters are kept in consideration while developing a wire wound resistor for following

1) body of resistor (wattage)

2) wire to be wound .

3) coatig layers.

how do can corelate all above three

You could try looking through the data sheets for the various manufacturers of wirewound resistors, such as Ohmite and Dale. They give pretty good information about what is required.
