Leakage Class Test for Control Valves

07/21/2010 3:48 AM

Dear All,

I have recently repaired a globe valve of 1" size. Now I need to check the leakage class test for the valve. It's inlet pressure is 16 Kg/cm2 and normal delta pressure across the valve is 6 Kg/cm2. I want to use the air bubble test to check the leakage class.

Kindly advice at what pressure should I check the leakage class? Or in other words what is the standard procedure to check the leakage class?

Regards

u will go for API 598. Since u repaired a control valve , it has a tag plate too...... u can check over there with manufacturer warranty etc.....

You said it is a control valve.

So follow ANSI/FCI 70-2 "Control valve seat leakage" Similar to IEC 60534-4

Class IV leakage allows 0.01% of valve capacity and class III allows 0.1% of valve capacity.

If you have soft seat you can try to meet class VI leakage rate which is the tightest.

You can use clean water at 3-4 barg on the normal inlet side with valve closed and measure the leakage thru the valve
