Polyimide Wire Enamel and Coating

02/28/2007 8:26 PM

Does any one have information on wire coating processes on vertical ovens using polyimide wire enamels?

I have been trying to locate pictures of the vertical ovens used in these processes.

the enamel makers might held. The wire makers all build their own furnaces and guard these designs as trade secrets.

We have some experience with coating optical fiber using polyimide resin.

There is a few companies that manufacture dies.

Then you need a two step curing system, of length depending on your wire process speed.

The die and pump for applying the resin will be dependant of the resin type, viscosity, process temperature, etc.

Also, do look at health and safety issues. This is a solvent based process.

Individual parts are somewhat easy to locate, but expect quite a lot of experimentation, depending on the coating quality you are seeking.
