Your friend has what this forum has come to accept as the most unreliable, most troublesome automobile around.

Here is a link that will take you to the 65 or so discussions on CR4 (in the last 8 months) regarding this car. A few of them we were able to help, but not many. Read through these, and you may find a few hints. If you find something useful and need some explanation, come back to THIS thread and comment; we will try to help.

Any gasoline powered engine needs: Fuel, Spark, Compression and Air. You stated you have spark, and you say you have fueled it directly. Have you checked compression? By hooking the fuel directly, does that mean that you poured some fuel into the air inlet, or did you burn up the injector and computer by running a battery wire to the injector?

Just what do you know that you are not sharing. Don't you know it is not nice to not share.

If you don't like my double negative, hang on, I can triple it if needed.

From what I can gather you have been in the automotive field considerably more than a lot of folks. I too, have been in it more years than I care to remember. Anyway, In those years we see and hear lots of very unusual things people try with their vehicles. You had to see this one coming and I respect your patience and consideration and that is why I sat back and enjoyed the ride. I must commend you for the way you are handling this thread. Did you ever hear of someone trying to flush their cooling system with laundry detergent? I have! It might work on laundry, but not good at all for automotive applications. He's probably still flushing out the suds. To say "good job" to you is an understatement. Keep up the good work , I'm sure we are all watching this thread very closely. Thanks,

h

This one is starting to sound like someone's joke. I am going to check it for fingerprints. I think Lynlynch is behind this.

Are you aware that the fuel must be pressurized for the injectors to spray fuel into the engine?

The Cavaliers that I know of require fuel pressure to make them run. Based on the information you are giving me you are expecting the car to run with gravity fed injectors. If that is how you have the car configured, I do not know how to help you. Please clarify, if I am not understanding your set up.

alright it is a boat tank with a fuel pump installed in it.... u then run the fuel lines to the engine..... and you hook up the wires to the battery with a switch .... its the same thing we use in all our derby cars...

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I was deprived of a decent education, and have never grasped mind reading.

Is the fuel pump able to supply 45 to 60 PSI? Carbureted engines do mot need any more fuel pressure than is necessary to feed the fuel into the fuel bowl. Injected engines typically require 35 to 60 PSI. I believe GM requires 45 to 60. Do you have access to a fuel pressure gauge that you can connect to the injector manifold on the Cavalier?
