Adobe & Windows 7 Problems

08/05/2010 9:42 PM

hello,

I'm having a problem with either adobe or win 7, adobe will open some pdfs after I downloaded some updates, but some of them web-based just show the download numbers but give nothing but a blank screen and pop up screen with nothing but a question mark in the middle and an ok button in the corner that doesn't do anything win you click on it and just leaves me with a blank web screen that says the pdf was downloaded by the numbers anyway. I tried the troubleshooting on the adobe site but come up empty handed. Any ideas.

thanks

How about trying another PDF reader? A good, free one is FoxIt:

Foxit is much faster/secure/reliable.

Uninstall Adobe, it has been very problematic in my experience.

I have has similar problems in Windows 7. What I started doing was to just download the PDF file into hard drive and view it locally.

You also might want to try a different web browser- Firefox seems to work well with Adobe (under Linux- not sure the same functionality can be realized in Windows).

I have experienced this anomoly in both Adobe and Foxit software recently. Apparently its a bug and causes a coruption of the program; Adobe is aware and a resolution will be forth coming.

Occassionally a Java update causes a generic script error.

You can switch to Foxit software or uninstall then reinstall Adobe reader.
