Meaning of UG

Does anybody knows the meaning of U and G in UG for ASME code section VIII for boilers?

To elaborate, your stated "Section VIII for boilers", is incorrect. Section VIII is for unfired pressure vessels. Section I is for power boilers, where the corresponding paragraphs are PG = Power boiler General; Section IV is for heating boilers = HG = Heating boilers General
