I need to buy an air compressor, I have an inventory of pneumatic tools (CFMs), how can I know the capacity of the air compressor I have to buy and also I want to install an auxiliary air tank.
Total consumption of air by tools x allowance. Also, remember that 1Nm3 of air @ 8bars becomes 4Nm3 of air @ 2bars. If your total air consumption is 20Nm3/hr @ 2 bars, this will be equal to 40Nm3/hr @ 1bar, so if you're storing the air @ 8 bars for 1 hour, you will need a 5m3 receiver (40 ÷ 8 = 5) as a minimum. Assuming that you provide for a 20% allowance, you will need a 6m3 receiver. Finally, assuming that you want to charge the tank from empty to full in 5 minutes, you compressor must be able to deliver at least 72Nm3/hr (60 ÷ 5 = 12 x 6) @ 8 bar or 576Nm3/hr @ 1 bar.
