Hi mrezazaeemi

Hazen units are determined by the comparison of the water against a standard solution made to a specific recipe. the basic colour is a pale brown or straw colour. I don't recall the exact make up but I know it contains Platinum salts. I will look this up when I get into the office tomorrow

There are a huge number of ad hoc colorimetric standards that exist in industry. They are often associated with the name of the person who saw the need and created the standard, and it lived on in those industries.

A search under "color hazen" and "colour hazen" get this

It's also common to use mgPt/L as a unit for color. 12.5 means a solution that contains 12.5 mg of platinum. In Norway the action limit for color in drinking water is 20 mgPt/L. I'm not sure what the limits are for other countries.
