Gloss Measuring In Wet Condition

08/19/2010 11:10 AM

Dear Gurus ,

I am attached to spray coating process , the coating material is a semiconductive urethane.( solvent base )

After the spray process ,the product (rubber roller )will go for a curing process. Here sometimes the gloss reading will be out of spec.

Usually when we have problem with gloss ,most related item are dispense volume and mixing ratio of the material.

Are there any device which can monitor or measure the gloss reading during spraying.

I mean during wet condition.

Thank you.

This looks like it might work. http://www.paint-test-equipment.co.uk/index.php?id=2

A device like this should give you "wet gloss", reading. You may still run into problems though. If your mix ratio is off, i.e., too much reducer, (solvent), your wet reading will show a uniform gloss. "good"

The problem still won't reveal itself until after curing.
