Masteryoda,

As said already--boiling and activated charcoal. Other methods can include--aeration, sitting in a shallow pan or wide-mouth bottle for 24 hours, addition of vitamin C (a common commercial way to de-chlorinate water being wasted during testing of mains water flow or emptying of swimming pools at the end of the season).

To remove the chlorine from home tap water, dispense the water from the municipal supply into a suitabel container for drinking. Leave the dispensed water open to room air. The "chlorine" in the water will evaporate from the waterat a rate dependent upon atmospheric pressure, temperature, surface area, rate of turn-over if agitated, concentration of chlorine in the water, and any filtrative efforts such as home tap water filtration systems (e.g. Britta filtration).

Place water in container and leave exposed to open air for 24 hours, chlorine will remove itself.

Or dechlorinator, pricey.

or holding tank, homemade pump assembly getup.

Easiest, no added chemicals, let it air out.

I seem to remember that if chlorine can be smelt or tasted in water, it means it is at low concentration(lower than needed to kill bacteria etc)- if true you would be better to add chlorine!. Apart from that you have been told the most common ways to remove it, & it depends on your application which method you use.

It probably depends if the utility company have used chlorine gas or some other chlorine compound to do the dosing

At a household level, the most practical implement is an Activated Carbon Filter that you attach to the tap. The adsorptive nature of the carbon is eaten up by chlorine over time so one has to replace the filter every so many months.
