A R C - what does it mean?

I have a trivia question. What to the letters in teh acronym, A R C, mean regarding welding? My dad's a pipeline welder, but I can't reach him to ask. I wonder if it's a trick question..... Regards, Rhonda Cross

ARC isn't an acronym. It refers to the open electric arc in the gap space between the electrode and the workpiece. Arc welding differs from spot welding or projection welding in this respect.

In my case it stands for (in order of occurrence):

"always remember curtains"

"a real calamity"

"ambulance response call"

"angry red-faced customer"

"another refunded cheque"

"a regrettable convalescence"
