Hang on, I'll get Bill Gates' number for you. He can tell you how to fix it.

You didn't say whether you were attempting to connect wirelessly or not. Problem could certainly be in the router especially if you're attempting to connect wirelessly. Also windows seven is extremely particular about identifying the network you are attempting to connect to.

Go to control panel /Network and sharing center and followed the instructions in creating a network connection.

Should you continue having problems please contact me, I have a side business selling YOODOO but dolls of Bill Gates. Complete with pIns with any luck you can be as much of a pain in the..... As he is to as.

Are you at a hotel? I often have this problem with my Windows 7 laptop at a hotel. If so, the hotel should be able to help you. They see this problem all the time, because 7 doesn't like wireless.

If you know your IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway you can enter them manually and it should connect. If you dont know them, you will have to contact your provider and they will help you out.

Ok, let's make sure you are set to get an ip address properly.

1. Click the Start Button

2. Click Control Panel

3. In the upper right hand corner of the Control Panel use the drop down box to View By Small Icons

4. Click on network and sharing center

5. On the right hand side next to connections, click Local Area Connection

6. A box will pop up saying "Local Area Connection Status"

7. Click Properties

8. Another window will open that says "Local Area Connection Properties"

9. Scroll down in the window until you see "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)"

10. Double Click it

11. Click the radio button for "Obtain an IP address automatically"

12. Click the radio button for "Obtain DNS server address automatically"

13. Click OK

14. Click Ok again

15. Click Close

16. Close the window that says network and sharing center

17. Restart your modem

18. After modem is ready, Restart computer

19. You're done in 18 easy steps!

What somebody ought to do is collect all the handy advice like this one from all the questions posed about stupid ol' Windows 7 here on CR4 and publish them in a 500-page book called the "CR4 Dummies Guide to Windows 7." It would be a best seller.

Hmmm..maybe it wouidn't fit into 500 pages.
