You will need to locate a cable splicer who is familiar with this type of cable. Very complex work. Years of experience needed.

You say you want to remake the cable termination? Do you want to lengthen the cable or shorten it?

What voltage is it?

What size is it?

CMP products do some good cable glands for lead sheath cables complete with heat shrink accessories to seal the cable.

They used to provide an instruction booklet with instructions as to how to strip and prepare the cable.

Raychem (Tyco Electronics) also has an excellent line of heat-shrink products for splicing and terminating cable of various constructions, including lead/paper. However, whatever product you choose, you should have a trained, qualified person install the terminations since they are not trivial to install.

At up to 660V I'd expect a competent tradesman to follow instructions. I had to! My first project involved 40 paper/lead terminations, all I had to go on was CMP's booklet.

I can now joint up to 33KV
