Bluetooth Blues

09/09/2010 9:33 AM

I have a Motorola S9-HD wireless headset. Per the specs: "Works with any brand of compatible Bluetooth-enabled phone or music device that supports Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)"

Does anyone know of an adapter that I could plug the handset wire from a conventional phone into to covert the signal to a Bluetooth signal this headset would be able to receive and transmit to?

All the other phone functionality would remain the same such as line selection, call termination, hold, conference calls, etc, given that the coverter would be on the handset side of the process.

We currently have to use wired headsets that are a pain and I would like to go wireless. There are some Bluetooth sets being used but not in our department.

What model phone are you trying to pair the headset with? Does your phone find the headset when you turn Bluetooth on and it searches for nearby Bluetooth devices?

If that doesn't work, what you're asking about does exist - perhaps something like this.

I don't have the model number available to me right now (I'm on vacation 'til the 14th) but it's a Lucent multi-line phone with speaker phone (disabled). We are using wired Plantronics head sets right now.

I looked at the items on the link you provided but I would have to find an additional adapter that would have two female receptacles, one that a standard hand set phone cord could plug into, then a receptacle the device specified in the link could plug into. There isn't a receptacle on the phone other than those for phone cords that I'm aware of.

Thank for the input though.

Avaya 6408D+ Digital Display Telephone

Ok, since that phone doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack output you'll need a "desk phone" Bluetooth adapter such as these:

Plantronics Voyager 500

Or since you already have the headset...

Jabra A7010 Bluetooth HUB

Of course there are other kinds of the same thing but those look to be the most popular solution for your application.

Thank you very much. I'll check those out and get one ordered. I do appreciate the assistance. It always helps to know what to look for, eh?

KZ,

Here's a link to a product that might work, made to be used on cell phones that don't have Bluetooth built-in

link

I did a search using the term "Bluetooth headset adapter" and found others that might work.

What size is the headset jack on the phones? Is it the same as the ones on a cordless or cell phones?

No jack I'm afraid. The headset we are using plugs into the bottom of the phone with the creature pictured below.
