Selection of Pipe Material & Its Grade

09/17/2010 12:40 AM

All,

Design conditions are

Temperature: 950F & Max Pr: 320psig.

Pipe class is 300 RF

Service is Extraction steam

Pipe material is selected as A335 but what is the criterion to select its grade such as P-11/21/22.

Also tell me how to select A335 and why not other alloy material.

Many Thanks for comments………

Sach...

Use ASTM A335-P22....

950F is too high for carbon steels, such as A106 or A53.

P11 sucks...has a bad reputation...costs as much as the slightly higher alloy, P22

P91 is reserved for higher temperature usage.....may be overkill for your application
