Underground Pipe Lines

09/21/2010 7:05 AM

Someone can clarify why for underground pipeline, the hydrostatic test is required for 24 hours using records (Like Bartons) of temperature and pressure. Is this activity specified in the ASME code (B31.1, B31.3. I, VIII ....)? or it is a purchase requirement?. Thanks

No. You would not be finding this requirement in the same shape you mentioned anywhere in the relevant ASME piping codes.

This requirement is mentioned normally in the project specifications of "Hydrostatic Testing of Underground Lines".

I tried searching the same many times in the past few months but could not find any reference from any of the piping codes.

Visit this link, I think I would be helpful for you http://www.thepetrostreet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=143
