I have one !!!!

How about the rampant use of legitimate mechanical engineering forums by people too lazy to look up anything on the internet !!!

Or......

The confusing, time-wasting posting of incomplete and vague questions in broken and misspelled English to people way too eager to help anyone in need !!!

Examples could include:

"Pls to fix braken pipee vulve 50mm, 341psi, wall theeknus 665; what iz prussure drpd dearst. Need rite away!!!! - Ramesh"

Anything that has to do with sensors is a really good topic.. I would suggest something like sensing the wind loading on a building, strain on an aircraft wing etc...

Go ahead and challenge yourself. Try to redesign the mechanics of the Cosmic Background Explorer. Maybe you could try to redesign the Mars Rover to last twice as long as the originals were designed to last. Then there's the classic shade tree mechanic problem, can you get a Caterpillar 1400 bhp V12 diesel engine to fit in a Ford 150 pickup. Can you do this and not shred the rest of the power train?

Mechanical engineering is a vast subject. Choosing a topic depends on your interest on perticular area, a good guide on that topic and resources available on hand or nearby. If you deleberate on the above, I may further suggest.
