Where would you like to go? Once you've made up your mind, I suggest you go there and take your motors with you.

I feel guest is asking selection criteria for DC or AC motor.

No where to go

If guest can find and use Wikipedia they would then at least have enough of an understand to, perhaps, ask an intelligent question.

I know, it's far too much to ask. Especially in light of Rule #75.

Guest:

Despite the sarcasm that we love to engage in around here, the question is a little too open ended for a forum like this. There are way too many variables to discuss as a forum topic and any answer we can give you will be so general in nature as to be rendered essentially useless.

But in spite of that, my offering is that there are no longer any clear lines of delineation, capabilities on both sides have increased to the point of making the decision actually harder rather than easier. My personal experience is that under 500W, DC is probably a better choice because PMDC is inexpensive enough to use there. PMDC get exponentially more expensive as power increases, and DC brush wear and maintenance is a significant detractor over AC in general.
