International Material Data System

hello all,

My friend just got a chance to go abroad in one reputed organisation. they told him that he will have to work on IMDS (International Material Data System).

In India, we are aware of the software and companies are using it. but it is not compulsory here (I guess.) so people do tell about software and its application but what about its future?

he will be working in technical support of this software. but clueless about his future.

can anybody help?

(I have gone through website of IMDS but I want opinion from experts who are working on it.)

What is the question? If Software and its application has a future?

IMDS with a future? Why not. He'll go and learn and if this Sofware has no future another will. Knowledge and experience is what he gets and what will get your friend a future.

You have given question and answer both.

If you know what the products he will work and what countries he will have interaction he end up developing international data sheet targeted to his work which will have international norms as well as flavor of the company he will work and culture of the country he will interact.

This is fun area to be in and had about 10 years in marketing and we had software engineers who did this for living full time to support Technical marketing persons like me
