Dave

I have been experiencing similar problems i would recommend checking the battery and alternator to see if they are on their way out.

Although my battery was still working it would cut out and create strange problems in my car. Changed now and all is good. My car is also a 2003 model but not a jaguar unfortunately for me.

rear wheel vibration i dont think would be related to you engine cutting out. I cant help there. Could be the Bearings im no expert though

Vibration on wheels at certain speeds, and if you can drive through it ie stops if you go faster is normally wheel balance problems

the vibration starts at 50 mph, if i go faster example 80mph vibration STOP!"!, then when Im slowing down again to 50mph vibrations came back!!!

I agree with Peter based on your description. Wheels out of balance.

The only other thing I can think of is wheel bearings but with bearings, the vibration would be constant with intensity increasing/decreasing with speed.

You mention it will vibrate from bearings all the time. However at 50mph the bearing vibrations would be at a lower frequency than at 80mph making it more noticable.

Yes, you are correct and as I previously stated "the vibration would be constant with intensity increasing/decreasing with speed"

Get wheels balanced and while they are at it ask them to check for wheel bearing play, But bewar they may say bearings nead replacing because you brought the subject up, to make money out of you.

Perhaps a better solution would be to get the wheels balanced first the see how it rides on the road, if still noisy go back and get them to check bearings

Found this on the net out of curiosity

Out-of-balance tires will cause a car to vibrate at certain speeds, usually between 50 and 70 mph. A tire is out of balance when one section of the tire is heavier than the others. One ounce of imbalance on a front tire is enough to cause a noticeable vibration in the steering wheel at about 60 mph.

other question about my engine shut off during driving? teh mechanic can verify if the baterry & alternator are fail???

remember that the car only shut off once per day, thanks!!

get all of them balanced then that will rule out balancing issuses on any other vibration you discover

The mechanic will measure the voltages on the battery, i got a percentage readout of what its producing compared to what its supposed to be producing.

The alternator is trickier. Along these lines i might miss a little info out.

measure the battery with the engine off - 12v readout etc

Then measure the battery with the engine running - The voltage should rise from the alternator (i.e charging the battery) if this doesnt take place or rises a little then you may have a problem with the alternator.

Again this is not for definate, but along those lines.

Alternators life are usually to around 70,000 miles

hello

I am an avid fan of the classic jaguar and it sounds to me like you have water in your fuel. I have found a lot of gas stations are adding water to their fuel tanks to boost their profits. fill a one gallon gas container at the fuel station, then transfer that fuel to a glass jug or jar. after it sits over night inspect the fuel. the water will be on top and the gas on the bottom.

at that point you know not to use that gas station again. refill your fuel container put it in the trunk and drive the car until the gas tank reaches "E" but not completely out of fuel. use the 1 gallon in the trunk to get to real gas station...that may solve your problem.....

If i use one of three petrol stations depending on my location. . each selling unleaded premium at 117 per l . .

what you are suggesting is that one of the petrol stations will offer you maybe (over 20 litres) 5-10% more petrol?? iteresting if true!

lol also wev been paying tax on water!!!! scandalous

Water is more dense than gasoline! Therefore water will be at the BOTTOM!
