Applied Ceramics

I am doing a paper (an assignment actually.. :P) on traditional ceramics..

so basically, i am thinking of doing a research on the history of world ceramics usage and would like some hints or info on the history of traditional ceramics in various countries around the world. For example, right here in Malaysia, we have this beautiful heritage of Labu Sayong, a traditional means of storing water.

Even better if anyone could guide me on the history or development of traditional ceramics in their country or region.

On a later stage, I am planning to add the modern usage/application of traditional ceramics. So again, if anyone who is working in a company that works with or deal with traditional ceramics especially in mechanical engineering, I would be grateful for any literature.
