Properties of Orange G Dye

10/04/2010 3:33 PM

Hello all,

In my lab group we deduced a number of properties for Orange G dye, but for our presentation we'd like to have literature values for the substance. We've tried all the basic Google search sites but have gotten nil.

We're looking for the:

Molecular Diffusivity and
Dispersion Coefficient.

Side note: This is extra, the professor stated that only 1 of 20 groups found the numbers last semester, but I thought I'd try the knowledgable area of CR4!

Thanks!

-Mizuti

Yeah, it's called Agent Orange. It will keep the grass from growing up the cracks in your driveway.

Have you tried literature mining the synonyms?

A basic Google search is insufficient. Use deductive reasoning, and dig deeper. I found quite a bit. What have your textbooks got to say?

As a seasoned CR4 member, you really cannot expect to be fed the answer.

I figured as much :P We're still poking around a bit here and there. It's not imperative that we get the answer, but it'd kind of a hot-shot thing to throw into our presentation. Our textbooks are mostly theory-based with a few examples littered in, but I'll definitely try refining my searches and getting a value

"Use deductive reasoning"

You have hit upon the key to effective Google searching.

What's this, Google has a "Deductive Reasoning" button? Well that should make searches more effective.

We ended up creeping through a pile of abstracts and managed to stumble upon the values tucked away inside them, thanks again for your response(s)!

Good for you!.. Well done.

Literature mining... we used to call it 'Hittin' the books at the library'. I guess those days are pretty much gone <sigh>.
