Arrangement of Pump and Valves

10/11/2010 4:50 AM

Over curiosity, the arrangement pump and valves are- pump, check valve, manual valve following the flow of direction. . This is I believe is the rule of thumb!! However, there are another 5 possibilities of arrangements. What is the consequences if we swap or arrange according to another 5!!

A line of pipe with pump, check valve and manual valve. If the manual valve is removed. What is the consequence?

This is I believe is the rule of thumb!!

Its not rule of thumb, it is technological requirement for discharge side only. Suction side may have one more manual valve. The arrangement at discharge for cryogenic liquids is pump, manual valve and check valve. If check valve is in between then one safety valve is required to be introduced between check valve & manual valve.
